Let’s talk about the Construction Sector in Florida using as reference the survey conducted by The Construction Association.

The study received 28 responses and contained a total of 20 questions.

Question #1: How has your firm responded to supply-chain issues in 2024, if any? (mark all that apply)

Comments: 50% have accelerated purchases after winning contracts, 36% have not had any significant supply chain problems and 39% have turned to alternative suppliers.

Question #2: What difference, if any, has the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law), made to your business?

Comments: 32% don’t know what’s the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and 29% have worked on new projects funded by this law.

Question #3: Did an owner postpone or cancel any projects that were scheduled to start in 2024 or 2025? (mark all that apply)

Comments: 32% reported that no projects have been postponed or cancelled, another 32% reported postponed/cancelled projects but rescheduled and 32% also reported postponed/cancelled projects and no rescheduled.

Question #4: If projects were postponed or canceled, what was the main reason? (mark all that apply)

Comments: The Top 3 main reasons why a project was postponed or cancelled are: (1) reduced funding available with a 55%, (2) Rising costs with a 50% and (3) Uncertainty about election impacts with a 27%.

Question #5: What are your biggest concerns for 2025?

Comments: The top 3 biggest concerns for 2025 are (1) worker quality with a 71%, (2) Insufficient supply of workers or subcontractors with a %64% and (3) rising direct labor costs with 61%.

Conclusion: the Construction sector in Florida is rapidly changing and evolving, is critical for general contractors to stay up to date and be aware of market trends. Also, the most common challenges a construction company faces are cost, find viable funding options and the presidential election impact such as the current tariff changes.
